Joaquin C. Hermosillo of Cochise, Ariz., died March 28, 2008, in Tucson, Ariz., at the age of 81. He was born on Aug. 16, 1926, in Pecos, Texas.

Joaquin farmed in the Northern Cochise County area since coming from New Mexico in 1958. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearce/Sunsites, Ariz. On Jan. 14, 1949, in Mexico, he married Hermelinda Solis.

Survivors include his wife, Hermelinda of Cochise; sons, Ramon of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Manuel (Julie) of Tucson, Joaquin of Sierra Vista and Ernesto (Jenessa) of Tucson; along with his daughter, Lydia (David) Reynolds of Sunsites, Ariz. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jose Manuel Hermosillo; and his sister, Leanor (Jorge) Olivas, both of El Paso, Texas.

Preceding him in death was his parents Manuel and Leanor (Carrasco) Hermosillo and a brother Francisco.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Westlawn Chapel. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Willcox. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox, Ariz.
