“I Wish Somebody Had Told Me!” and “Basics of Investing Courses” will be back at Cochise College:
• Basics of Investing:
April 24, 5-7 p.m.,Cochise College, Sierra Vista campus.
This course looks at the key fundamentals of investing. It focuses on mutual funds because of their inherent diversification but a wide range of investment vehicles is discussed. There are no marketing attempts but rather an unbiased and informative discussion of investments.
This course assumes the foundations of debt management and emergency savings are in place, and now it’s time to look at investments. Every time this course has been taught, it has lasted more than the two hours allotted due to questions.

• I Wish Somebody Had Told Me! April 12, 9-11 a.m., Cochise College, Sierra Vista campus.
This course examines indebtedness and debt management, the pitfalls of credit cards, FICO scores and the high price of procrastination. The course is designed for the high school seniors and the “twenty-somethings” to help them develop good money habits. While presented as a two-hour course, no course has yet finished on time due to questions. Call 515-5492 to enroll. Fee is $12.

Joan Weaver has been appointed executive director of Valor Hospice-Care in Southern Arizona covering Tucson, Green Valley and Sierra Vista. Weaver is a registered nurse and has a bachelor’s of science in nursing. For information, call 458-9450.
The Sierra Vista Economic Outlook Luncheon will be April 2 at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center. Registration deadline for the event is Thursday. Robert Carreira, director of the Cochise College Center for Economic Research, will give a review of the economy over the past year and a focus forecast for the future. Sierra Vista City Manager Chuck Potucek will discuss current and future city projects.
Cost for the event is $45 per person or $315 for a table of 8 (includes lunch and a copy of the 2008 Sierra Vista Economic Outlook).
