TUCSON — For the second straight day, Tombstone’s Cody Rosengarten excelled at the prestigious Willie Williams Track and Field Meet at the University of Arizona’s Drachman Stadium.
Rosengarten had a personal record and a state qualifying time in finishing fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 9:49.94 Saturday morning.
Rosengarten, a sophomore, has now qualified for state in all three distance events, the 800, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs.
“He ran very well against a very strong field,” Tombstone coach Jake Winslow said. “We also had some good efforts from other athletes as well as a couple of PR’s.”

The boys 4x800-meter relay team of Sean Hector, Evan Glynn, Jeff Siguenza and Angel Garlant had a PR with a time of :28.75 and Daniel Dotson leaped 5 feet, 3 inches in the high jump, also a PR.
Dotson also threw the shot put a solid 35 feet, 7 inches.
“Our two triple jumpers also did well,” Winslow said. Tommie Smith went 35 feet, 11 inches and Dorian Temple went 35 feet, 3/4 inch.
The girls 4x800-meter relay team of Jackie Brown, Brooke Willsey, Alexis Gonzalez and Natalie Springston were timed in 12:40.94.
The meet was non-scoring.
“We are doing a lot better,” Winslow said. “We are very young but have a lot of potential.
Tombstone will go against Buena and Cienega Wednesday in Sierra Vista and compete in the Bill Taylor Invitational in Bisbee on Saturday.
