Dr. Bruno was a widely published art historian and archeologist, who was an expert on ancient Greco-Roman painting techniques, and a full professor of art history at both New York State University at Binghamton and the University of Texas in Arlington, where he served as the Ashbel Smith Chair of the Department as professor emeritus.
In 1978, Vincent Bruno was selected as a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellow, which is an honor bestowed on those individuals viewed as advanced professionals in their fields.

He was an avid sailor, sailing the Aegean Sea, the Mediterranean and, in later years, off Long Island, N.Y. Vincent led a life that many of us aspire to — full of world travel, intellectual pursuit and stimulation, good wine, food and music, and the ever-present quest of an understanding of artistic beauty.
He regaled us with his adventures and discoveries and we hope that he is on to the greatest one yet.
His brother, Daniel J. Bruno of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; nieces and nephew, Mary E. Bruno (Glow) of Prescott, Ariz., Daniel A. Bruno of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Patricia A. Bruno Calhoun of Sierra Vista, Ariz., survive him. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and his cremains will be interred in the family plot in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
