For the Herald/Review
When was the last time you escaped into a world of your own … or rather, were flung into the unexpected?
Off Broadway Theatre invites you to join the adventure — “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” — adapted for the stage by Tim Kelly from Lewis Carroll’s literary, nonsensical classic.
Artistic director Chris Sancho is using the talent and energy of the young acting students to bring to life the unforgettable story of Alice’s journey. Alice finds herself in a new world where a white rabbit is always in a hurry, a DoDo runs in circles, a Mad Hatter babbles on and a Queen of Hearts demands an execution … Who better to paint that picture than the young people who make our world a better place?

“The children are the best part of the whole experience! They are brilliant!” says Sancho.
I could feel the enthusiasm bubbling inside of her as she gave me a sneak peak of the stage and design concepts. I was also reminded of how much time and devotion it requires to mount a production as she gathered the costumes to be altered and supervised the painting of the set.
I grew even more excited to witness the kids living in the world that was being made before my eyes. It’s what they do best, in my opinion.
So if you are looking for something out of the ordinary, or even perhaps spending some extra time with your own special little actor, I recommend joining their adventure on Friday at 7:30 p.m. or on March 1 at 2 p.m., March 7 at 7:30 p.m. and March 8 at 2 p.m.
