Native Arizonan Patricia Kettering Dunsmore of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb., 26, 2008, at Tucson Medical Center.

Pat was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Inspiration, Ariz., to Charlie and Ardath Kettering. She grew up in Inspiration Arizona and graduated from Miami High School. Pat attended the University of Arizona majoring in education, graduating in 1950. She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.


Pat and Frederick Albert Dunsmore were married Feb. 17, 1952. After his return from active duty Army service, they moved to Douglas, Ariz., in 1954, where they started their family and their careers in education.

In 1963, the family moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz. Pat taught many children in the Sierra Vista public schools during her career. She retired in 1987. Pat and Fred were able to travel after their retirement. Pat was an avid reader. She loved to play golf and enjoyed a good hand of bridge.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Ann Dunsmore and her son Matthew Lemke of Tucson, Ariz., Bob (Kathy) Dunsmore and their daughters Leslie and Laura of Winder, Ga., and Mary Kay (Steve) Ponder and their sons William and Stephen of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 2750 Cardinal Drive, in Sierra Vista.

She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by those she loved and those who loved her.
