There also will be raffles, with proceeds going to a different charity each month. They will have different vendors featuring their goodies, so ride on down and check out all the action at Nick’s, and have a great time. They thank sponsors, Joan Hodges at Long Realty, Liz Balke from High Desert Massage, The Lone Star Cafe, and Advanced Tig Welding, courtesy of Scott Brown owner. They are looking for vendors to show and sell their wares, for a fee of $15 a booth. The January event was a big sucess, so come in and make February the same.

Romance at Belleza

“Romance is in the air” could be the theme of the newest work of Jesse T.  Hummingbird showing at Belleza Fine Art Gallery this February. All of his pieces reflect a romantic influence in a most unusual way. He has painted original images on sheet music. He collects the old sheet music from second-hand stores and from friends and family who donate theirs. The images are gleaned from the title of the music. All of these are of the romantic nature … including “Somebody Loves You,” “I Wanna Be Loved,” “I Love You Truly” and “It Had to be You.”

In addition to Jesse’s work this month, February — the month with Valentine’s Day — marks an international celebration of love and fertility. The Victorian style of Valentines incorporated decorative collaged elements, such as dried flowers and doilies, using he familiar heart symbol commonly recognized today. In accordance with this style, artist Rose Johnson has produced seven new collaged Valentines, also showing this month at Belleza.

Reflective of the elaborate Valentine style of the Victorian era, these pieces capture various fanciful sentiments; but they stand out in their uniqueness because of their distinct Asian flavor, inspired by the artist’s recent journey to Bali.

Belleza Art Gallery is owned and operated by a nationally recognized nonprofit, The Renaissance House (women’s transition project). All net proceeds serve a substance abuse treatment program for homeless women and their children from the state of Arizona. It is located at 27 Main St., in Bisbee. For information, call 432-5877,  or visit www.bellezagallery.org.
