SIERRA VISTA — A select ensemble of musicians, all high school honors students, will perform at the Southeast Regional Music Festival this weekend.
More than 30 schools will be traveling to Sierra Vista to take part in the concert. Students from Cochise and Graham counties, and from the cities of Nogales, Tucson and Casa Grande will all be in attendance for the highly-anticipated event, which will feature a 100-voice chorus, festival orchestra and festival band.
A total of 25 musically-gifted students from Buena High School choir, band and orchestra will perform at the concert — a major accomplishment for the musicians, since only 100 students from the entire southeastern region of Arizona were chosen to participate. And the way in which the candidates were chosen was not a simple process; auditions were in fact complex and challenging for every student who tried out.
Those representing Buena choir include Chelsea Brown, soprano; Sara Brzozowski, alto; Lucas Burrows, baritone; Rafael Chon, tenor; Jed Cross, tenor; America Hanson, alto; Alex Haws, tenor; Rachel Haws, alto; Ron Hegedus, bass; Sarah Jarvis, soprano; Evan Lake, tenor; Kristin Lee, soprano; Victoria Simms, alto; and Terrence Taylor, bass, with Buena choral director Jill Brown.
