SIERRA VISTA — Eleven-hundred-fifty-seven pounds of marijuana was seized by the Arizona Department of Public Safety near Mustang Corners in Whetstone on Friday.

A citizen reported a white 2006 Chevy pickup abandoned about four miles west of the highways 82-90 junction north of Huachuca City, and about two miles south of Highway 82 at milepost 48, according to the DPS. Responding officers found the grass in numerous containers under the pickup’s bed cover.

The pickup, bearing Arizona plates, had been reported stolen by Tempe police Dec. 7, according to the DPS. There are no suspects named.
