BISBEE — Four illegal immigrants charged in connection with a string of three break-ins that took place in Cochise County in early December pleaded not guilty during an arraignment hearing on Friday.

Alberto Jimenez-Garcia, 36; Alejandrino Lara-Silva, 19; Natalio Valenzuela-Valdez, 41; and Yerco Vedobch-Arrvayo, 18, were indicted on a total of 41 counts by a grand jury Dec. 13.

According to the indictments, the incidents took place in the 10900 block of S. Highway 181 in Willcox and in the 8800 block of E. Goforth Lane in Pearce on Dec. 5 and in the 10600 block of N. Wiegand Pratt Road in Elfrida on Dec. 6.

Cochise County Superior Court judge Donna M. Beumler scheduled a pretrial hearing and jury trial dates for the four defendants. The cases are assigned to Division 2.

A pretrial hearing for all three cases is set for March 3, 2008. The trial for the Willcox incident will be held on April 29, 2008, the trial for the Pearce incident will occur on May 13, 2008, and the trial for the Elfrida incident will take place May 27, 2008.

All four men are charged with first-degree burglary of the Willcox residence, breaking a window, and theft of a Winchester bolt action .270 rifle, a Rossi .357 revolver and a Marlin bolt action .22 rifle.

Lara-Silva, Valenzuela-Valdez and Vedobch-Arrvayo are charged with entering the Pearce home with intent to commit theft while possessing a deadly weapon, kidnapping, robbery while armed and robbery while aided by accomplices.

Lara-Silva is charged with aggravated assault. Valenzuela-Valdez and Vedobch-Arrvayo are charged with another count of robbery while aided by accomplices.

Lara-Silva, Valenzuela-Valdez and Vedobch-Arrvayo are charged with entering the Elfrida house with intent to commit theft while possessing a deadly weapon as well as theft of a Taurus PT-92 9 mm semiautomatic handgun, a Ruger .357 magnum revolver and a Heckler & Koch .22 caliber revolver.

Beumler said all four men will continue to be held in jail without bond. It is a requirement of state law because they are illegal immigrants accused of committing a major crime.

" Although it's possible formerBP is correct about no rapes or murders committed here in Cochise County by UDA's - facts remain that those crimes are committed by UDA's in other parts of America. Home invasion/kidnap is a crime...these three are UDA's...and they are from south of our border...those are facts. And lc...pls lrn 2 spel or use ur spel chk...not all of us can understand text message language...also gives the public the impression that you are educated and may actually know what you are talking about...you say "across the line"...these perps crossed the line. " To former BP...that is just so silly. You would have us believe that these illegal aliens, UDAs from Mexico as you would call them, don't commit violent crime? Did you not read the series of articles that let to this court case? Here's another article that addresses the criminal element in Mexico: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080105/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/mexico_frightened_tourists;_ylt=Ag_qCU0IHC632zrSUK9w1s6s0NUE "

" No murder or rape in recent years has been committed by an undocumented person in Cochise County. You people are just looking for scape goats for the soaring violent crime among your own citizens. Border issues need to be address but get real. UDAs from Mexico are not the real cause of violent crime in Cochise County. The US citizens are. Check the statistics with the county attorney or the public defender. "

Please state the facts, how the Bond was haulted/cancled, who contacted the JP District 4 and brought Az Prop 100 to the JP's attention? On what date?-How many days did it take before the error was caught and corrected. Gentry did not report this part for you before you took over this story, yet still THE PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW THE FACTS! "

I don't live in fear of intruders, but neither am I lulled into the belief that such things only happen to other people. That being said, I hope these illegals are prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to the fullest extent of the law. "

" It's a shame that we have to waste US taxpayer money on a trial because they are pleading not guilty. We will also have to pay for their internment and their deportation once their sentence is completed. When is Mexico going to pay for these costs? Why haven't we gone after Mexico with a bill for the cost of prosecuting and imprisoning the illegals that come over the border? "

sierravistan wrote on Dec 26, 2007 6:46 AM:

" Ah....the SS agareement with Mexico, but of course "W" would want to reward all those illegals who are breaking our laws...think if I rob a bank or something similar I can be rewarded with vast sums of money. And since I am already a citizen perhaps I could be appointed ambassador to Great Britian or Italy, sounds like a nice reward for breaking the law, since that seems to be the directions this administration is going...maybe even I could be given a certificate that states I NEVER have to pay taxes again, how bout it "W"? Not illegal immigrants but our own citizens, who are hurting? It is shameful thate men and women, who came back from Korea, the Vietnam, the gulf are homeless? What about our own single Mothers. then their are Senior citizens, who are likely to suffer if Royal Bush signs into law a Social Security Agreement with Mexico? Then their is the huge sums of money, sent abroard for Nation "

ALL illegals in this country must be apprehended, prosecuted, incarcerated and deported. "

" We have enough home grown criminal citizens in this nation, we don't need foreign nationals committing their share of crime against honest citizens. My only sincere wish, is that everytime these Mexican or other nationals decide to commit mayhem on a citizen of the U.S. ---that it's one of the "liberal/progressives" who fight tooth and nail to allow it all to continue. Any of the Democratic open borders kooks will do as victims, as far as I'm concerned. Afterall, the consequences of stupidity should be against those who make stupid choices, not some innocent bystander. "

" This is precisely why we must secure our border with Mexico. The persons that committed these crimes would never have been allowed to enter the United States lawfully. Yes, many of those who enter illegally are "coming to work" (and even they are a net burden on our society) but we must seal the border to protect our country from drug traffickers, criminal aliens and terrorists.
