Airport security has failed again numerous times what they were hired to do detecting bombs and bomb-making material. Government investigators smuggled liquid explosives and detonators past airport security. Last July, while traveling abroad, my wife’s perfume (less than 2 ounces), doctor-presribed medication (sealed liquid capsules) packed in original container and liquid mustard in a plastic container were confiscated by airport security. To me, airport and homeland security are a shambles and only a nuisance to the traveling public. Travelers must remove their shoes, and have their purses, carry-on luggage screened and undergo body searches prior to boarding a plane. How many illegal border-crossers carry liquids when crossing? Who checks their shoes, luggage, passports? All these were scare tactics at election time to become kind and dictator of our land. I call it public abuse. Read French history and find out about one of their holidays called Bastille Day.
Now that the food prices have gone up, you can thank the people who are demanding alternative energy sources and the use of corn for ethanol as a replacement fuel in order to cut the CO2 output that is not a danger to our planet. Now farmers are producing corn that will not go to food production and therefore you will pay more for most of your groceries. Thank Al Gore and the media scare-mongers and then recall the 1970s scare of the coming ice age. It made the cover of Time magazine to validate that fraud, as did this last scare.

I just read the Sheriff’s Office report in the newspaper. Why don’t you put in the names of the people who committed these crimes? Who cares about their ages? Maybe there won’t be so many crimes if they know their names would come out in the newspaper. We need to know who they are and if they are our neighbors.
EDITOR’S NOTE: There is a reason why we don’t run the names in our sheriff’s or other police agency reports. We are not able to follow everyone’s cases through the court system, and not all arrests or citations may end with a guilty plea. Some of these cases may be dismissed, other people may be found not guilty, or they may plead to a lesser charge.
Clinton was known as the first Black president. George Bush will be known as the first Mexican president. Hillary would be known as the first hippie president and Obama would be known as the first Muslim president.
You can tell Sierra Vista is on the map. We’ve been on the local news quite a bit within the last month or so. Currently there’s a gang shooting, one death and three wounded. So much for progress and growth. I guess that’s what the city council wanted with all these new houses being built in Sierra Vista. I guess they didn’t think crime was going to come with it.
An American hero is being laid to rest today in Sierra Vista and almost no one is this community knows about it. That’s because the Herald hasn’t bothered to report on it. Robert Rogers was raised here, he graduated from our schools, and his family still lives here. He was killed in the line of duty in a helicopter accident in Italy a few weeks ago. Although other service members have received front-page reports and heroes welcomes the Herald didn’t even bother to mention it except for the obituary placed by his family. The Herald owes this family an apology. It’s disgraceful.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Funeral services for U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Robert Rogers took place Nov. 21. The newspaper covered those services and a story was published Nov. 22. The newspaper also published information about his death in the Nov. 11 edition.
There was a caller wanting better gun control. There is supposed to be gun control already in place. It’s called “parents.” Some adult bought the gun; that adult is responsible for securing the gun. Are parents responsible for anything, any more? It’s not the job of the police, the schools, society, or the city of Sierra Vista. Parents, step up and manage what you created. You parents who can’t be bothered with teaching your children, why didn’t you just get an aquarium or a garden to begin with, something simple you could handle?
There’s a problem area where you cross Fry Boulevard on Avenida Escuela where the light used to be but now it’s gone. How much longer is this area going to be torn up. I notice school kids have to walk through that every day. What if one of them falls and breaks a leg. The city gets sued. It’s time to act.

This message is for Hillary. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. That’s a true statement from way back.
Look for more On Your Mind comments in Monday’s edition.
