Cecelia and Fred “Pete” Fields will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 8, 2007.
They were married on Nov. 8, 1947, in the Chapel at Fort Worden located in Port Townsend, Wash.
Fred was an “Army brat” born on Corregidor Island in the Philippines. The Fields family arrived at Fort Worden in 1936, whereas Pete had been born and raised in Port Townsend.
Both attended the same schools but did not get to know each other until their high school days. Fred graduated in 1945 and started working for the Department of the Army as a personnel clerk in the Civilian Personnel Office at Fort Worden in 1951, which led to a career in the personnel management field.
