SIERRA VISTA — Another man was shot in the unincorporated “Sulger City” enclave of west Sierra Vista, early Saturday morning.

A 21-year-old man reported that he came out of his house in the 200 block of Jennifer Lane at about 3 a.m., and someone struck him in the head and shot him in his upper right leg with a small-caliber handgun, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said.

He was treated and released from Sierra Vista Regional Health Center later Saturday morning. His identity has not yet been released by investigators, nor have the identities of the two men shot in the leg during some sort of dispute in the same county enclave about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Capas said investigators do not wish to release the gunshot victims’ names because they said it would jeopardize the ongoing investigation into what may be related shootings.

The Sheriff’s Office also declined to comment regarding whether the recent shootings may be street-gang related, Capas said.

On Sept. 6, 35-year-old Sierra Vista man Robert Perry was shot in the abdomen and later died at University Medical Center in Tucson. Another man, Daniel Grissom, 33, remains at the Cochise County Jail in Bisbee on charges of first degree murder in connection to the shooting of Perry.

" SV.Has some people playing with guns. The problem is with the people not the gun. This last victum was hit in the head then shot in the leg. The trama to his head was deadly force.Laws do not stop crime but give the system a chance to punish wrongful actions. Street shooters and gangs don't use legal guns most have a past record so they buy from the BlackMarket. I maybe needing my gun soon for rabies was found in my remote area,Not in SV. Point is guns are tools when used correctly. "

" To the one calling them self “NRA”: Every single unconstitutional gun control law ever passed; has had the NRA’s BLESSING. Every Freedom Stripping unconstitutional gun control law ever passed has made society more crime ridden and more unsafe. Tell us “NRA”: Which crime would have been LEGAL if a gun hadn’t been used? WHERE has rendering the innocent defenseless against criminal attacks made society safer? NYC? Washington, DC? Detroit? Chicago? Guns in civilian hands stop more crimes every year, than guns in the hands of cops. Criminal will have guns. None of the Freedom Stripping laws affect the criminals. Meth’s "

" Destiny I’ll address your inanity like the others: Where has gun control LOWERED the crime rate? NYC? Chicago? Detroit? Washington, DC? Where has the elimination of the Anti-Freedom Nazi practice of gun control RASISED the crime rate? The “Wild West” when “Everyone carried guns” was MUCH safer than NYC today. Do a little HONEST research; you’ll be surprised what you will learn. "

" the wrong guy. Point is you were pulled over, not all Law enforcement officers are like him. Point is he pulled you over! John you can buy a scanner and listen to all the trafic that goes over it. What you choose is your choice. I know that I would not want a person with NO TRAINING trying to assist me. Nor would I like to have to detain you till I know who is who. "

" Why doesn't the city allow citizens to be deputized so they can use a police scanner to listen to crime events, go to the scene, and forcefully stop a suspected criminal? "

" Another fine example of a true American displaying his right to bear arms. Way to defend your rights by having a shoot out with the law. Not exactly the town to tough to die, becasue one person was killed. I am glad our country afforded him the opportunity to rob the place with a gun versus pan or a bat. I am sure the outcome would have been the same. "

" Law Dog - true story...a BP agent stopped me one night saying he had a report a vehicle matching mine had just left a suspected pickup location. I had been no where near that location. I rudely informed the agent of this and I requested his supervisor. He returned to his truck and drove off. I had to call the station to get a sup. I requested a copy of his supposed dispatch tape which I'm still waiting on. What Federal Law was he enforcing? "

" Who needs gun control? Not us. It is like Old Tombstone, more guns the better. That way all the criminals can shoot each other and no one will feel safe. I am sure glad everyone can buy a gun, that way I can barricade my home like the Alamo. Good thinking NRA. Buy guns for self protection, not any more, now it is for self survival because there is absolutely no control. "

" "Sulger City"??? Call it what it is... Sierra Vista. I agree with Mike that all this crime is related to the unmanaged growth of Sierra Vista. Where are the jobs and opportunities that can support all these new people? Gangs and drug use have exploded here so expect more violence. If Sierra Vista could bring good paying jobs, offer affordable housing for everyone and if everyone could get health care, gangs would have a harder time recruiting new members. "

" The main problem here is that "Sulger City" lies outside SVPD jurisdiction. It isn't fair to place blame on the city pd for what happens outisde their jurisdiction. Sure, they can offer mutual support, but ultimately, it is CCSO responsibility. If the city incorporated these areas, it would make it easier on law enforcement, but who wants to add high crime areas like that to our city? "

It isnt very many. Your figures probably factor in border patrol who do not have any thing to do with law enforcement "

" Welcome to the "New" Sierra Vista. This violence is just another byproduct of growth without vision. If the city doesn't come down hard on the thugs breeding and moving into to Sierra Vista, in ten years it's going to look just like South Tucson. Street gang affiliation should be a capital offense. "

twirp wrote on Sep 25, 2007 6:28 AM:

" obviously they do not want to kill these three guys, just scare them. I do not know if they are scaring them but they are scaring the rest of the town wondering how this can be happening in a town rated as having more law enforcement per capita than any town it's size in the US. What is all this law enforcement doing, they need to be working together more to keep the community safer from people like this and when caught find judges that will give them longer sentences in jail. Crime prevails here because punishment is minor. "
