Man seeks his own way, but God has last word

To the Editor:

The recent article in the Living section titled “The Spark of Life” reminds me of the imagined story of a creation contest between God and an evolutionist. God reached down, picked up a piece of clay from which He created a life form. Then the evolutionist reached down, picked up a piece of clay and began trying to form a life form but God interrupted by saying, “No, you must use your own material.”

It has been proved by Louis Pasteur and other scientist that life comes only from life and intelligence comes only from intelligence. Some scientists use the term “create” very loosely. But what they are really doing is using their God-given intelligence to manipulate living cells and genetic material already existing. Man has been doing this from the beginning by selecting the best stock and plants for reproduction. Read the story of Jacob in Genesis Chapter 30.

According the Bible, God created man with a free will and put him on Earth to tend and keep it (Genesis 2:15). But man rebelled and has sought his own agenda for the most part ever since. So, man may be able to alter life forms already in existence by using his God-given intelligence but you can be certain that God has the last word. Some men may be able to manipulate life forms for evil temporarily, but God’s agenda for man as outlined in the Bible will stand forever.
