Donald E. Taylor, 70, of Whetstone, Ariz., died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at his residence.

He was born in Munday, Texas, to Charles (Chuck) and Clara Taylor on Oct. 26, 1936. He grew up in Blythe, Calif. He joined the U.S. Army in 1955 as a cook for 20 years. While in the Army he completed his GED. He retired in 1975 with the rank of sergeant first class after serving in Vietnam, Korea and Germany.


After completing his military career he took college courses at Cochise College in Sierra Vista. He loved his wrestling (WWE), collecting antiques and other valuables. He especially enjoyed fishing in Kino Bay, Mexico.

He is survived by sons, Donald E. Taylor Jr. of Benson, Ariz., and Allen R. Taylor of Willcox, Ariz.; daughters, Sherry Wright of Kansas, Julie Morrow of Whetstone, and Crystal Mayfield of Montgomery, Ala. Other survivors include his sister, Dorothy Stark of Tucson, Ariz., and his 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son, Ricky Taylor and wife, Pauline Taylor. 

A memorial celebration will be held at Brenda and Ralph Larges home in Whetstone on Friday, June 1, 2007, at 2:30 p.m.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated and interment services will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 2 p.m.

Hatfield Funeral Home assisted the family.
