FORT HUACHUCA — The bodies of an elderly couple were found Friday afternoon in a remote area of Huachuca Canyon on this Southern Arizona Army post.
A hiker found the bodies near a vehicle, said Maj. Matt Garner, the fort’s spokesman.
While no foul play is suspected, an investigation by the FBI and the Army’s Criminal Investigation Detachment on the fort is continuing, the major said.

The couple had no apparent military ties, Garner said.
However, the normal process for the members of the public without a military vehicle sticker is to access the fort by stopping at one of the gates and obtaining a temporary pass by showing a driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
Individuals who obtain a temporary pass are not required to turn it in when leaving the fort. Garner said part of the investigation is to determine when the couple came on to the post. That information wasn’t available Friday night.
According to initial news reports, the man and woman, who were in their 80s, were from Maricopa County and had been reported missing by family members.
Attempts to obtain information from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office were unsuccessful Friday night.
