HERALD/REVIEW

BISBEE - The Belleza Gallery in Bisbee has moved from its current location to another building that is about about 100 yards away.

Lou Anne Sterbick-Nelson, manager of the gallery on Main Street said the new location is much larger.

"It's bigger and represents the art better," she said. "It does show the art better. It is more of an open feeling."

Sterbick-Nelson said there are times when art can be seen better from a distance.

The ceilings at the old Royal Theater that opened in 1905, are six feet higher than where the old Belleza Gallery building.

She also said the new location is six feet wider.

"It was not showing the art to its best advantage," she said.

The Belleza Gallery is owned by the Women's Transition Project in Bisbee.

The new location, which is at 27 Main St., was also once a soda fountain drug store and more recently housed the Central Store.

Sterbick-Nelson said she was informed about six months ago that the Belleza Gallery would be moving to a bigger location.

"We are just really pleased to be here," she said, adding that she was elated when she heard the news. The gallery, she noted, was able to sign a multi-year lease at the new location at a low price.

She said the work on the building to prepare it for the Belleza Gallery was not an easy task.

There was concrete on top of the wall and the contractor did not know there were bricks behind it, she said. She said the result was more work than what was originally anticipated.

The original floor that was in place when the theater is open is also still in place as well.

    " Bill;
    I just ran across this article about the Buffallo Soldiers Gala in Sierra Vista, AZ. I would like to say that I am both pleased to see that the work I started with several of my fellow enlisted men of the US Army who served in Fort Huachucha betweent the years 1971 and 1973 have borne fruit. I must say that after all these years of trying to follow-up on the memorialization of the Buffallo Soldiers that a monument was finally commissioned. I would like to visit the monument and Fort Huachucha in the near future. "

    " Mexican President Felipe Calerson condems the work our border patrol agents do. He does not condemn his own people or personnel for not doing their jobs. Our southern border is not an open invitation to get a job, smuggle humans or drugs. These agents are in a tough situation and having their life threatened all the time. Our Government must do something now. Get off this politically correct agenda and stop illegal immigtants from coming into the USA .I am afraid the American people may take it upon themselves to do something. Is this President Bush wants. "
