DOUGLAS - The fingerprinting of an apprehended illegal immigrant has again led to discovering a person who was deported for life after being convicted in Colorado for sexual assault of a child.
Jose Espinoza-Lagunas, 25, was taken into custody Thursday by U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Douglas Station about 10 miles east of Douglas, Tucson Sector spokesman Rob Daniels said Friday afternoon.
As part of the routine process involving illegal immigrants his fingerprints were transmitted through a biometric identification system and they came back that he was a person who was not allowed to be in the United States, Daniels said.

Espinoza-Lagunas served a four-year term in Colorado and was then deported back to Mexico, he said.
He is being held in the Tucson federal prison complex pending an appearance before a federal magistrate to determine what will happen to him, Daniels said. Espinoza-Lagunas could face federal charges. If convicted, he could serve a sentence and be deported. He also could be deported without facing any additional federal charges.
