NACO, Ariz. - An illegal immigrant on Mexico's Most Wanted List for reported kidnapping and murder was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol agents late Sunday night, according to Tucson Sector spokesman Andy Adame.
Anselmo Zamora-Altarnirano, who had an outstanding felony warrant from the Mexican state of Veracruz, was taken into custody by Naco Station agents, Adame said.
The man was taken into custody at 11:40 p.m. south of Highway 92 in the Palominas area. His fingerprints were processed into the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Automated Biometric Identification System and it came back that there was a lookout for him, he said.

The San Diego Sector Border Patrol Intelligence Fugitive Unit was notified and confirmed Zamora-Altarnirano was a wanted fugitive from Mexico, Adame said. Additional confirmation came from the State Attorney's General Office in Veracruz.
The Intelligence Fugitive Unit works with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Mexico officials in trying to locate wanted criminals from Mexico who attempt to flee into the United States, he said, adding the man is in U.S. federal custody pending extradition to Mexico.
