SIERRA VISTA -- Cochise County prosecutors are reviewing the felony charges against the president of American Border Patrol, Glenn Spencer and may present the case before a grand jury within a week.
Spencer's initial hearing, planned for today, was canceled pending the review. Cochise County Prosecutor Vince Festa said this is common among felony cases of this nature.
Spencer, 66, was arrested Aug. 2, charged with three counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon, a count of endangerment and a count of criminal damage stemming from an incident where he allegedly discharged a gun on his property the night on Aug. 1.

One of the shots from a .357 caliber rifle hit a neighboring home in the area of Equestrian Avenue and Yaqui Street.
According to court records, Spencer told sheriff's deputies he fired the gun into the ground to scare off would-be burglars after a series of burglaries at American Border Patrol's headquarters.
The American Border Patrol is a private organization that has garnered national attention for its efforts to monitor illegal immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border. The group is not associated with the U.S. Border Patrol.
